Intellectual Property

The intellectual property present in OtherLife was the patent that they had for the OtherLife technology. The technology was originally developed by Ren’s father, Dr. Amari, who was a professor. Ren took her father’s ideas and patented it herself in order to help her brother. At the end of the movie Ren also wanted to leave the company and let Sam run the company alone but she wanted to keep the patent. She worked hard for thousands of hours creating the code, debugging the code and testing it. She deserved to have the credit for her hard work even though she no longer wanted to be a part of the company.
